Golfing in West Ireland
|
|
The West Clare region is home to some of the world's most picturesque and best links golf courses. Golfers can test their skills on the windswept dunes of championship links courses including, Lahinch Golf Course and the brand new Doonbeg Golf Course. These are just a few of over 30 great courses dotted around the area, in fact, you will never be more than 25 Kilometers (16 Miles) -even at the remotest point- from a golf course, when you visit the region. Play at any of these courses, and you are following in the footsteps of people like Greg Norman, Tiger Woods, Ernie Els, Phil Mickelson, Mark O'Meara, Tom Watson and even former US President Bill Clinton. Greg Norman
designed the latest edition to the Golf Course population in West
Clare, Doonbeg, which opened in 2002. The Kilkee Golf Club is a spectacular 18-hole course located right on the cliffs of Clare, overlooking the sea, with great panoramic views of the coastline. The Kilkee Golf Club has (as little as five(5) years ago) been upgraded from a nine-to-eighteen hole course. The course is not only a test of skill but nerve as well! The Kilrush Golf Club is one of the oldest clubs in the region, it dates back to the late Nineteenth Century and this will be a true step back in time. These are
but a few of over 100 golf courses dotted all over the coast line
of Ireland, try the links courses, and if they are not exactly your
cup of 'tee', Playing a round of golf in Ireland
will be as good an experience as kissing the Blarney Stone. A true
test for any golfer, and the pleasure of driving a brand new Titanuim
golf ball down a fairway over a century old is definitely |
